I agree with what Anthony and Justin are saying about the need for an Anthem type of video for flatland, but who has the dollars to front that in the flatland game?
And a week later if that, it would be online for free... What do you all think?

You can't stop it going online, but I think that to make any money the video in question should be as easy to get hold of as possible, with as little distribution costs as possible. That means making it purchasable as a download rather than DVD.

People are more likely to pirate if they have to go to hunt out a DVD like Anthony had to do with Reason. If its downloadable and people still pirate then those people would never have paid for the content in this day and age.

I believe that if a video was well made, had innovative unseen riding and new ideas, plenty of people would pay to download it out of respect to the riders and flimmakers.

Good points Carter, flats just such a small sport, what would be interesting is to go through figures of what are great videos, so lets say as example Simon O'Briens "Made you Look", the Diversion series, the intrikat series, MK's "Moments, and look at those figures for hat they have sold, and over how long, I guess what I am trying to say, is that I bet its not that much. I love collecting dvds more than anyone, but I can understand why its not going to happen in flatland on a wide scale. There will be always be a few dvds out there, Dane is kicking ass with the Same thing Daily releases for example.

My only negative is the booze not sure on that or why its necessary ,if it was filmed in a pub yes but as the episode goes on slurry words, burping etc it draws you away from the subject other that that great presenting very informative viewing.

I see what your saying Howard, I never thought about that as a negative, just there kind of stance they have had since the first episode.

Yeah true not a big deal ,not too much booze though it would be like a ruck at Fratton Park lol.

Digging these episodes. About the booze... these guys are grown men, if they want to drink who cares.

It's that mentality that flatlanders shouldn't drink or smoke that gives flatlanders the reputation of being a bunch of pussies... you guys remember Chad D & the Baco crew right? What happened to the flatland party lifestyle? It's not only for the street riders you know!

Never knew Flatlanders had a reputation for not drinking are you for real try heroin Shayne if your that hardcore try it and see how you get on .Yeah sure drink but am i a pussy because i quit booze, drugs and ciggies ?? nah mate your talking shit what i'm saying is there is no need for promoting drinking on a flatland or any BMX site takes the emphasis away from the real subject i don't care if they " are real men and men can drink watch us drink mmmm etc " real men my arse everyone knows that Yanks can't party like us Brits bottle of Bud or a crate of 24 cans of Tennants Super take your pick bro.

Thanks for the comments, and yes, as I have thought about this more over the last week, the costs of a flatland Anthem, would be far greater than what the producers could ever hope to recoup, even with sponsorship dollars I fear. I think the passion is out there, but it's crazy expensive. A lot of respect to anyone putting in the time and money to put flat DVDs or even nice edits together. It's a labor of love.

Just this week I saw the O.G. Trailer put out by Anthony Crespo. It might not have all the top pros, but it had the feeling of an epic. I can't wait to see a full-length and I will buy a hard copy.

I do have to say though I was stoked to get an actually copy of Reason (and Zai and Ultra-Zai). I have my girl in Japan who I might need to convince to go back and pick up a few more DVDs.

@Howard, as for the beer, I hear what you're saying, and I doubt we could ever film in a pub. We try not to get too pissed and keep the slurring to a minimum. It does help with the nerves though! Also, because of the progressive drinking, these are all one-take shows! Helps keep it fresh. I think if we were 100% sober we might feel inclined to cut and reshoot something. So far all 3 shows have been one-take affairs.

Thanks for all the nice words, we'll keep fine tuning to get a better show out there. We are working on the short Japan / Space Ark edit now. Look for that on the 15th.

Cheers
